rock walk project

We are currently in the process of undertaking major arboricultural works In Torquay at Rock Walk - also known as Royal Terrace Gardens, and formerly known as Fisherman’s Walk. This popular site is on the register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historical Interest and was originally planted with sub-tropical vegetation.  Sadly, this area has become overgrown and the cliff face unstable, necessitating the removal of most of the large Monterey Cypress and Holm Oak trees.

Due to the hazardous nature of this site, the project requires highly
skilled arborists, trained and experienced in dismantling trees with
the aid of a crane. Approximately 35 mature trees (some
weighing up to 10 tonnes) will be removed using one of the largest cranes in the country.  The work is further complicated by the instability of the cliff, requiring exceptional health and safety measures, including on-site communication by 2-way radios. The team also includes experienced groundsmen, who will undertake the difficult task of removal of small trees and scrub clearance.
As we have stringent environmental and waste control policies, all brushwood is chipped and recycled as garden mulch.
