environmental policy

It is the objective of Devon Tree Services to reach the right balance between business activity and respect for nature and the environment. We adopt practices that help to protect the environment and maintain the countryside. We can assure our customers of our commitment to demonstrable environmental management; we promote environmental policies and practice them at every level and in every department within the company.

Environmental Impact

Devon Tree Services works within all the relevant environmental legislation, as a minimum, such as the European Protected Species legislation, Wildlife & Countryside Act, Conservation (Habitat Regulations).

We routinely carry out risk assessments including the provision for contingencies e.g. Bats, Birds & Wildlife. We have team leaders trained in bat awareness. Devon Tree Services often work with other local or national agencies to promote environmental policies.
We have specialist knowledge and skills with regard to veteran trees, deadwood habitats, replacement and new planting.

Managing Waste

We are committed to minimising waste and pollution and apply environmentally- friendly principles to the operation of company owned vehicles. Where practical, we avoid the use of environmentally damaging substances and materials. Brushwood is usually chipped on site and we promote the use of woodchip as garden mulch/ path covering as an effective weed control measure.

Operational Management

Devon Tree Services promotes a purchasing policy which gives preference, as far as possible, to products and services which cause the least harm to the environment. We maintain the grounds and buildings of the company in an environmentally sensitive way, having regard to the protection of local natural habitat. Consumer attitudes concerning environmental issues increasingly shape our working practices. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact -
